In December 1973, Frank Zappa & The Mothers played a four-night run at The Roxy in Hollywood, captured on both audio and 16mm film for a planned concert release. The footage was eventually assembled and issued as Roxy The Movie on Blu-ray in 2015, presenting roughly 90 minutes of edited concert performances.

This extended edition adds 48 minutes of concert footage edited into the proper order and synced to the 2018 full remix of the performances. Bonus tracks from the 2015 Blu-ray are folded back into the main flow, and additional performances were recovered from a 2007 Classic Albums documentary and an old QuickTime promotional video to fill out the concert.

Editing Rationale

The 2018 CD box set remix is used as the single audio source for the entire concert, with every piece of footage resynced to it. The QuickTime file and the DVD sources were upscaled with AI GigaPixel; results were strong overall but the top and bottom of the image suffered, so the two songs sourced this way were cropped to 14:9. "Montana" was cropped to widescreen on the DVD and quite noisy, so the QuickTime footage was layered on top to regain picture detail.

Since the band played a different setlist each night and footage exists for different songs across different evenings, this edition does not reconstruct any single performance. Instead it approximates a common flow — keeping roughly to what happened across the four nights while letting editing decisions guide final song placement.
